About LCC's four Schools
Creative Industries Observatory
The creative industries are a key component of the UK's global economic competitive advantage and London is the hub of the UK's creative economy.
There is a multiplicity of established companies, medium-sized firms, freelancers, mediators and other creative actors in London who contribute to a fluid, ephemeral and above all dynamic business landscape.
The Creative Industries Observatory (CIO), combines the tasks of collating information on this landscape, with providing up-to-date, readily available information that can be used by academics, policy makers and businesses alike. Moreover, the CIO analyses the creative industries of 5 other cities - Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Mumbai and New Delhi - potential growth sites for London-based businesses, as well as potential collaborative partners.
The CIO produces statistical data and qualitative information on the creative industry sectors (businesses and mediators) that are not only up-to-date, but constituted by the industries themselves through a mutually collaborative and relational partnership. This ensures a constant flow of information which maps and analyses the continual trends within the creative economies of these 6 major world cities.

Attached to the CIO is the Creative Industries Journal which aims to engage with critical debate regarding the creative industries both theoretically and academically, with the first edition due to be published in January 2008.
