Alice Bhandhukravi - Postgraduate Diploma Broadcast Journalism

Before enrolling at LCC Alice Bhandhukravi had done considerable research. "I'd spoken to various people in the industry who'd all recommended I do a postgraduate course in broadcast journalism in order to get into news," she says. "And by far the best-known and most well-considered course was the one at LCC."

"I loved learning how to tell a story," she recalls. "I very much enjoyed finding and interviewing 'my' celebrity. On our first assignment, I had the luck of spending an afternoon with Benjamin Zephaniah!"

Alice also took full advantage of LCC's ties with industry: "I worked at 2-Ten Fm over the Christmas holidays and spent my placement at Eagle Radio in Guildford. I also managed to spend a few weeks with Radio 4 working on Woman's Hour, which was incredibly exciting."

Now a producer/presenter with BBC London News, she looks back at her time at LCC fondly. "It was a great place to study - especially given the proximity to artistic courses. The tutors were excellent and I had a very happy time there."

Her advice to students is: "Make sure you absolutely want to do the course because it is hard work and you need to be motivated and persistent," she says.

"Once you're there, enjoy it and work your socks off. The more practice and experience you get, the better. Also explore as many different subjects as you can."
