Widening Participation at LCC

Widening Participation at LCC

London College of Communication takes an active role in encouraging students from under-represented communities into art and design education.

As a College we have a long history of welcoming students from a diverse range of social backgrounds, but we know that many more might not feel the opportunity to study at University is open to them. One of our main focuses is to challenge these misconceptions.

We aim to work with and raise the aspirations of potential students from backgrounds with traditionally low participation rates in Higher Education.

We focus our activities on the following areas:

  • A student ambassadors scheme
  • School and further education college progression agreements, aimed at non- traditional applicants
  • School and further education college links and services, including careers advice, individual guidance and portfolio reviews
  • A summer programme with our partner institutions
  • Community links and activities
  • In-service training for academic staff

Our school links programme covers a number of activities.
